Tats\u00e4chlich wird dieses Konzept im Bereich der bildgebenden Verfahren in der modernen Hirnforschung vielerorts angewendet. Stoffwechsel ist ein zellul\u00e4rer Prozess, bei dem &#8222;Brennstoff&#8220; in Form von Glukose oder Zucker &#8222;verbrannt&#8220; wird, um Energie freizugeben, die wiederum von der Zelle genutzt werden kann. Dieser Prozess verbraucht Sauerstoff und Kohlenstoff und erzeugt Kohlendioxid. Der metabolische Umsatz entspricht dabei der Menge der verbrauchten Energie.<\/p>\n<p>Wenn das Gehirn <strong>mental aktiv<\/strong> ist, wie z.B. beim Kopfrechnen, verbrauchen die Regionen, welche direkt an der Aufgabe beteiligt sind, mehr Energie. Damit geht ein <strong>h\u00f6herer und schnellerer Stoffwechselumsatz<\/strong> einher als in anderen Hirnregionen.<\/p>\n<p>Das menschliche Gehirn hat einen extrem aktiven Metabolismus. Obwohl es nur 2% des K\u00f6rpergewichts ausmacht, liegt der Sauerstoffverbrauch bei 20%, der Glucoseverbrauch bei 25% des Gesamtverbrauchs.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Die_Anwendung_von_HEG\"><\/span>Die Anwendung von HEG<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Wie beim fMRI erkennt auch die HEG Ver\u00e4nderungen in der Gehirnaktivit\u00e4t, indem es die <strong>Schwankungen des Blutsauerstoffgehaltes<\/strong> misst.<\/p>\n<p>Diese Form des Neurofeedbacks ben\u00f6tigt keine Elektroden im herk\u00f6mmlichen Sinne und ist von daher deutlich <strong>einfacher in der Anwendung<\/strong>. Artefakte wie Schwei\u00df oder Augenzwinkern sind, anders als beim klassischen EEG, so gut wie ausgeschlossen. Der Feedbackprozess beruht auf einer Datenanalyse der Infrarotsensoren im Bereich der Stirn. Der <strong>Frontallappen<\/strong>, welcher in der Regel als das aktivste Hirnareal gilt, spielt eine besonders gro\u00dfe Rolle bei Aufmerksamkeit und Konzentration. Manche St\u00f6rungen, wie z. B. Migr\u00e4ne, haben ihre Ursache oft in diesem Bereich. HEG hat sich auch in der Behandlung von Autismus und Asperger bew\u00e4hrt.
