De hecho, todos los avances para mejorar las funciones cerebrales y restablecer las que se han da\u00f1ado son pasos de gigante para mejorar la calidad de vida de las personas. Todo ello le resulta muy familiar al profesor de la Facultad de Psicolog\u00eda de la Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca (UPSA) Rub\u00e9n P\u00e9rez Elvira, especializado en rehabilitaci\u00f3n neurol\u00f3gica y neurofeedback. Para este cacere\u00f1o aficionado a la m\u00fasica -y apasionado desde hace muchos a\u00f1os de la viola da gamba, la neuroregulaci\u00f3n y la cartograf\u00eda cerebral permitir\u00e1n conocer qu\u00e9 ocurre en las conexiones el\u00e9ctricas que se producen en nuestro interior.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"d-flex justify-content-center justify-content-lg-start\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"container\">\n<section><\/section>\n<section>\n<div class=\"CkeditorRender_c-ckeditor-render__2a7Id my-4 b-text b-text--2m b-text--color-grey-590\">\n<p><strong><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Pregunta (P): \u00bfEn qu\u00e9 consiste la rehabilitaci\u00f3n neurol\u00f3gica?<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Respuesta (R): La rehabilitaci\u00f3n neurol\u00f3gica es un proceso terap\u00e9utico &#8211; un conjunto de t\u00e9cnicas, que va destinado a pacientes que han tenido un da\u00f1o cerebral o tienen alguna enfermedad que impide la expresi\u00f3n normal de las funciones neurol\u00f3gicas y exige su restauraci\u00f3n.<\/span><\/span><\/strong><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"> Dicha rehabilitaci\u00f3n se realiza en diversos \u00e1mbitos: f\u00edsico (Fisioterapia), ocupacional (Terapia Ocupacional), logopedia (Logopedia, desde el punto de vista de la comunicaci\u00f3n) y tambi\u00e9n desde el \u00e1mbito cognitivo para la memoria, el lenguaje o la atenci\u00f3n.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Por lo tanto, especialistas intentan restaurar a trav\u00e9s de t\u00e9cnicas avaladas cient\u00edficamente esas funciones que se han perdido o, en caso de que no puedan restaurarse, tratar de compensarse. En este contexto entran a juego muchos profesionales sanitarios, as\u00ed como trabajadores sociales para la reinserci\u00f3n o expertos en rehabilitaci\u00f3n y t\u00e9cnicas de neuroimagen, donde destaca la resonancia magn\u00e9tica funcional o aquellas m\u00e1s destinadas a la cartograf\u00eda cerebral como la electroencefalograf\u00eda cuantitativa. Adem\u00e1s, se utilizan t\u00e9cnicas de estimulaci\u00f3n mediante electricidad y campos magn\u00e9ticos o de neuroregulaci\u00f3n como el neurofeedback.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Al final, a reintegrar a la persona a un escenario lo m\u00e1s parecido a su posici\u00f3n anterior, al da\u00f1o cerebral o a la enfermedad neurol\u00f3gica.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">(P): \u00bfQu\u00e9 se observa en la cartograf\u00eda cerebral?<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">R:<\/span><\/span><\/strong><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"> A la cartograf\u00eda cerebral observamos un reflejo el\u00e9ctrico de la actividad neurol\u00f3gica, que es la suma de muchos procesos.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Ese reflejo el\u00e9ctrico est\u00e1 relacionado con las manifestaciones que tiene el paciente. No es que cada cartograf\u00eda cerebral nos informe de un problema el\u00e9ctrico que tiene en el cerebro, sino que la patolog\u00eda y el reflejo el\u00e9ctrico tienen un mismo tema que encontramos en la cartograf\u00eda cerebral. See trata de patrones de activaci\u00f3n electrica que nos permiten conocer m\u00e1s a fondo que fen\u00f3menos est\u00e1n ocurriendo dentro del cerebro del paciente y que procesos no se est\u00e1n dando de una manera normal, comparada con el grupo de referencia del sujeto.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Por lo tanto, desde el punto de vista tanto bidimensional como tridimensional -e incluso otros niveles m\u00e1s complejos\u2014 podemos estudiar el funcionamiento el\u00e9ctrico, que es un reflejo del funcionamiento global del cerebro del paciente.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">(P): \u00bfCu\u00e1les son los beneficios del\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/strong><i><strong><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">neurofeedback<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/i><strong><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">?<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">R: El neurofeedback es una t\u00e9cnica de neuroregulaci\u00f3n basada fundamentalmente en el condicionamiento operante y sus beneficios pasan por modificar el cerebro a nivel funcional y anat\u00f3mico desde dentro, de modo que la intervenci\u00f3n es hiperespec\u00edfica.<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Por ejemplo, si tenemos un paciente con depresi\u00f3n y toma un psicof\u00e1rmaco, este se distribuir\u00e1 por su cerebro y por todo su cuerpo, por lo que tendr\u00e1 un efecto sobre su condici\u00f3n y emoci\u00f3n. Con el neurofeedback, podemos dirigirnos de manera espec\u00edfica a estructuras o redes m\u00e1s concretas, siendo el propio paciente el que, a trav\u00e9s de este proceso o la metodolog\u00eda de condicionamiento operante, va a modificar el patr\u00f3n de activaci\u00f3n.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">De este modo, podemos decir que el neurofeedback va a proveer una ayuda que, aunque asistida externamente, va a ser producida internamente o, lo que es lo mismo, el paciente intr\u00ednsecamente va a cambiar su actividad cerebral.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">(P): \u00bfA qu\u00e9 pacientes see dire el <\/span><\/span><\/strong><i><strong><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">neurofeedback<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/i><strong><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">?<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">R: Hay una falsa creencia en la propia Academia de c\u00f3mo funciona o a qui\u00e9n aplicamos el neurofeedback, porque no se realiza por \u201cetiqueta cl\u00ednica\u201d, como la depresi\u00f3n, locura o trastorno obsesivo.<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Esta t\u00e9cnica se puede dirigir a cualquier paciente cuya patolog\u00eda tenga un reflejo en la actividad cerebral; com\u00fanmente, la aplicamos a ni\u00f1os con TDAH o con trastornos del aprendizaje, pacientes con un traumatismo craneoencef\u00e1lico, con alteraciones de lo afectivo, que han padecido un ictus, etc.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">A primer t\u00e9rmino, nuestra diana terap\u00e9utica no son los s\u00edntomas del paciente, sino cambiar una conducta interna a la actividad cerebral y para que se produzca un cambio en los s\u00edntomas ha de producirse primero un cambio en esa conducta interna. Por lo tanto, cualquier paciente, cuya patolog\u00eda tenga un reflejo directo en la actividad cerebral, es candidato al <\/span><\/span><i><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">neurofeedback<\/span><\/span><strong><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">.<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/i><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">(P)\u00bfCu\u00e1l es el futuro de la psicolog\u00eda gracias a las investigaciones de la neurociencia?\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">R:\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/strong><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">El futuro de la Neuropsicolog\u00eda es como el de la Psicolog\u00eda: muy amplio, porque entre los colegas y, a concreto, aqu\u00ed en la Facultad de Psicolog\u00eda, tenemos interacci\u00f3n entre especialistas en temas sociales, familias, mediaci\u00f3n, cl\u00ednica y neuropsicolog\u00eda.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">En mi campo, las neurociencias nos permiten un avance muy continuo del conocimiento de los procesos cerebrales. Con la neurociencia computacional, por ejemplo, podemos saber c\u00f3mo act\u00faa el cerebro porque nos permite simular la actividad cerebral y su funcionamiento, as\u00ed como probar procesos en esas copias digitales.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Volviendo al\u00a0<\/span><\/span><i><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">neurofeedback,\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/i><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">cuando recibimos a un paciente extraemos datos de su electroencefalograma que contienen mucha informaci\u00f3n: podemos ver la correlaci\u00f3n de distintas bandas a una misma localizaci\u00f3n o regi\u00f3n, la correlaci\u00f3n cruzada de estas bandas con otras de regiones, ver la direcci\u00f3n del flujo de la informaci\u00f3n&#8230; con todo esto, podemos crear un modelo de la actividad cerebral del paciente y sobre ello probar los tratamientos.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Por ejemplo, podemos simular los tratamientos de neurofeedback en ese modelo y predecir c\u00f3mo se encontrar\u00e1 el paciente pasado a tiempo.<\/span><\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"> En el caso de las t\u00e9cnicas de IA, podemos analizar un volumen muy grande de datos y que revelen patrones de la actividad cerebral que nos permitan afinar lo que le ocurre al paciente y, de este modo, poder ofrecerle posibles soluciones.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/hPm_OBhIE40?si=ixyLO56VYc2griRB\" width=\"560\" height=\"314\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tratar de entender nuestro cerebro siempre ha sido un gran desaf\u00edo y buscar las herramientas para mejorar procesos neurol\u00f3gicos es un reto para la ciencia.
